Technical Information

Door Manufacture

The door leaf itself is constructed of two sheets of 3mm glass fibre skins. These two skins are secured to a 45mm x 39mm styrene subframe and a compressed closed cell foam core by using only moisture cured adhesives. By using this method we can guarantee that the internal core is completely solid and that no air has been trapped inside.

Bow, Twist or Rust
Purtons GRP doors are guaranteed against bowing and twisting.

Painting or Staining
There is no requirement to paint the doors. All door skins are completely colour fast and can be manufactured to most BS colours.

Door Edge
The door leaf is manufactured to the finished size which eliminates the need to reduce the stiles and rails which would otherwise reduce the strength of the door. As there are no exposed wooden edges and all the corners are welded no ongoing maintenance is necessary.

Outer Frame
Our doors, as standard, are supplied fitted into a specially designed styrene outer frame. However a uPVC reinforced outerframe can be supplied as an option.

Hardware
All doors are manufactured with 65mm stiles as standard. Therefore any type of lock, handle, door closer and most other furniture can be fitted.

Door Seals
An 15mm Culon bubble together with an 8mm Woolpile seal used in conjunction with the stormguard and rain deflector renders the door completely impervious to the severest of weathers.

Double Glazing
All doors can be glazed using a double glazed 24mm unit. A simple glazing system enables units to be glazed and re-glazed very quickly and easily.

British Made
All doors produced by Purtons are manufactured in the UK using British sourced products wherever possible.
